The Paris Olympics 2024 will be the holy grail of all sporting events this year. Every four years, sports fans worldwide wait for this spectacle and relish the fierce competitions that culminate in the finals. Yet, after the medals are awarded and the Olympic torch dims, must fans endure a four-year wait for the next exhilarating multi-sport event? Certainly not, as the 2025 National Senior Games will revive the same competitive atmosphere with a different flavor. Having senile adorable old men and women congregate and give it their all is an equally passionate endeavour that isn’t given enough credit.

NSGA’s update for senior athletes

The NSGA’s mission is to cultivate the knack for physical fitness in adults above the age of 50. With this lofty goal, the Federation has begun preparations to host the largest seniors multi-sport championship event in July. Recently, the National Senior Games Association posted an IG video from the last iteration of the Games. In the captions, they posted the schedule saying, “NEWS: We’re excited to announce the dates for the 2025 National Senior Games, set to be held July 24-Aug. 4, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa. The countdown is on!”. However, for the complete breakdown of the competition schedule, the athletes must wait until spring 2024.

Alongside this information, the NSGA also informed the athletes of a mandate for eligibility in 2025. The post said, “To participate in most sports at the 2025 National Senior Games, athletes must qualify at an NSGA Member Games in 2024″. Participants can compete in any of the 50 state senior games organized around the country to secure eligibility. For the biennial event in 2025, the NSGA has expanded its scope and brought in a wider range of athletes.
