The NHL legend, Wayne Gretzky, took his son-in-law’s side during a tough phase of allegations in 2015. Paulina Gretzky and Dustin Johnson, a golf star, tied the knot in 2022 after dating for nearly a decade and birthing two children.

Dustin Johnson has won six World Golf Championships, and he also has the record of being the first player to win all four Championship events. The professional golfer failed drug tests and was alleged of excessive drinking and drug usage in 2015. Rumors reveal that the hockey legend used some stern words to clean up his act or the wedding would be off. On the contrary, were Gretzky’s open statements about his support and love for his then-future son-in-law.

Gretzky stood in support of Johnson during his absence from the tour. The professional golf player failed drug tests thrice before it came to the spotlight. Addressing the allegations, Johnson said, “It’s just something I’m not going to get into. I have issues. But that’s not the issue.”

While Johnson made a sincere effort to address his issues, Gretzky supported him despite accusations of drug abuse. “… He’s a wonderful person with a good heart and we care about him,” Gretzky stated in a radio interview. Also, he added, “He’s our future son-in-law and we love him dearly.”

Regarding the rumors about sitting Johnson down and warning him to settle the dust about the issue, Gretzky laughed it off, suggesting that it was untrue.

Paulina Gretzky is the eldest daughter of the hockey great, Wayne Gretzky. The couple started dating in 2013. They welcomed their first child, Tatum in 2015 and River in 2017. The pro golfer and Gretzky never shied away from showing love for each other in public.

Speaking of their relationship, Johnson once said, “For me, golf was always the most important thing. And now, it’s Paulina and the kids.” However, he didn’t discount his love for playing and competing. “But they’re the most important thing,” he said.
