Many were left surprised when Wayne Gretzky announced that he was retiring from the sport. Though many anticipated that he would play more games, the Great One took a very different call. Post-retirement, he no longer had to worry about his competitor, but the NHL star could hardly anticipate that his days of the competitive sport were far from getting over.
Taking after son-in-law Dustin Johnson, the hockey veteran picked up the hockey fever. He may also have perfected the skills, but when it comes to competing, he can hardly match his wife’s zeal.

Apart from Dustin, for Gretzky, a competitor in golf was never a question. When asked, “who’s the better golfer?” Even his wife vouched in to affirm that he has the skills and is the better one when she and Wayne are in the picture. But when asked, “who’s more competitive?” The answer came as a surprise.

Love at first sight for Wayne Gretzky?
Unlike other couples, it was not love for Wayne and Janet at first sight. Previously engaged to Vitas Gerulaitis, Janet met Wayne for the first time on the show Dance Fever in 1984. During the said time, he was the judge of a famous reality show. The two soon parted ways. However, as destiny would have it, the two soon reconnected.

In the year 1987, the two met during the Los Angeles Lakers game. As cupid stuck, the two started dating, and after a year of courtship, they decided to make things official. The two soon married at the famous St Joseph Basilica Church in front of 700 guests. Together they share five children.
