Olympics rivals reunite after 50 years.

The Olympics association recently produced a documentary titled “’72 – A Gathering of Champions.”. Notable Olympians to make an appearance in it are the likes of Olga Korbut, Heide Rosendahl, Kipchoge Keino, and Mary Peters. Directed by Jonathan Hock, the film left many viewers a tad teary-eyed. But, arguably, the best moment was when Mary Peters, now 83, was surprised by her long-time friend and co-competitor, Germany’s Heidi Rosendahl.

Mary was an Olympic gold medalist, best known for setting a world record at the Munich Olympics. In the shared video, the former gold medalist could be seen giving an interview, recounting her past performances. What she had no idea about was that her friend Rosendahl would sneak up to her to congratulate her. Instead, the moment was an ode to their moment, nearly 50 years earlier, when Rosendahl had done something similar after their games.
