Many months before the Paris Olympics 2024, FIFA generated a palaver by terming the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, the “largest standalone women’s sporting event”. The tournament itself threw a golden chance to the USA Women’s soccer team to make it three out of three. However, the “largest event “ couldn’t pull out a stunner from the US WNT to win the glory.

The national color lost a chance to make a three-peat achievement on the occasion. Paris reached out to the US national color with a chance to touch the missed glory. However, this time the sports are different and the occasion as well. But that might not degrade the achievement on the eve of the Olympics.

When the sporting communities engage themselves in deep thinking of Team USA’s chances in the Paris Olympics, the Paralympics may smirk in silence. The reason is straight, as Team USA itself took a special notion of it. On January 4, the Instagram handle of Team USA shared a post to discuss its best medal-winning chances in the French first city. The caption that stated, “It’s never too early to mark your calendars” could attract interest. However, the bigger revelation came at the last showcased snap that spilled that both the US men’s wheelchair basketball and US women’s sitting volleyball squads are standing at the juncture of making three-peat history in the Paralympics, housed to be in Paris. The snap features a question, “Para threepeats coming?”

It was the USA’s two out of two gold medal chances. The same happened with the US men’s wheelchair basketball team, who snatched the title win from the host country, Japan.

The probability of success on the grandest stage

The women’s team entered the Olympics year, backed by their 9-0 record last season. Even coach Bill Hamiter flaunted a few mantras that his team would follow to attain the three-peat in the Paralympics. He conceded, “it’s trying to find what those motivating factors are, not just as a team, but for those individual athletes. What are you trying to accomplish? What do you want to do? How does it affect you personally? Those types of things.” For the men’s wheelchair basketball team, the records said for themselves.
