The feeling of achieving one’s dreams is always very blissful. But, things get extra sweet and heartwarming when one achieves something nobody has ever done before. A track and field paralympic athlete is currently basking in this same feeling as he has accomplished an NCAA milestone.

Ezra Frech is an American paralympic athlete best known for setting a new world record in the high jump. A social media post recently declared that the World Champion athlete has broken past a sturdy NCAA career wall. Interestingly, Frech had been working tirelessly to achieve this dream with USC and had been waiting to realize it for two years.

Ezra Frech added a new reel to Instagram revealing his happy NCAA news. The reel carried the caption, “Been dying to share the news for so long. Excited for this next journey !! The reel caught the new NCAA recruit saying, “Two years ago I put out in the universe that I wanted to make a Division 1 track team. Now I’m so excited to be here today and officially announce that to the best of my knowledge, I’ve become the first above-the-knee amputee to ever be recruited, receive an offer, and now commit to a Division 1 school for track and field.”

This was followed by Ezra donning a University of Southern California cap. He also unzipped his hoodie to reveal that he was wearing a USC singlet. Achieving this historical NCAA landmark is undoubtedly very significant. However, if Frech is the first above-the-knee paralympic athlete to get into a D1 team, who will he compete against?

The concluding lines of Frech’s reel caught him saying, “I’m excited to continue my academic and athletic career competing against able-bodied athletes at the University of Southern California. Let’s go Trojans! Fight on, baby!” Thus, while he is a paralympic player, he will be facing unified competition.

This will be a new as well as a big challenge for the NCAA athlete. Ezra Frech is a high jumper, a long jumper, and a sprinter. Thus, he will be up against opponents from three different sporting disciplines. How he fares in the new challenge is something that time will tell, but the world champion is definitely on cloud nine today.
