Overcoming all the odds and achieving the impossible has been Shaun’s thing, as he has done it all once again. In a remarkable feat, Shaun White has officially been named on the Team USA roster for the Winter Olympics 2022.

The halfpipe team is full of stars as reigning Winter Olympics champion Chloe Kim and some other notable names will appear in China next month. Following his qualification, astonishingly, Shaun has become the oldest halfpipe athlete to compete in the Olympics.

35-year-old Shaun White has finally made it to the team USA roster for the Winter Olympics, despite the setbacks. White faced many challenges in the pursuit of his last Olympics berth but he never gave up. Apart from his injuries, Shaun even tested positive for COVID-19 a little before the qualifiers.

However, in the very last contest, he clinched the podium place to solidify his last Olympic dream. Hence, team USA has now officially announced the ‘King of Halfpipe’ on the squad for upcoming games. Other members on the team are Chloe Kim, Maddie Mastro, Chase Joey Zoe Kalapos, Taylor Gold, Tessa Maud, and Lucas Foster.

The diversity in Team USA is incredible and noteworthy. While Shaun is eyeing victory at 35, young champion Chloe Kim will be fighting to defend her gold medal at 21.

Shaun already has three Olympic gold medals under his belt, a dream of every snowboarder. However, the champion of champions would want to close his career on a golden note, as he has announced his retirement post-Beijing.

The extraordinary athlete will vie for the podium place against some of his young rivals. The most notable rival is Japanese snowboarder Ayumu Hirano. In the past, Hirano has always been surpassed by White, leaving him in the silver position at the Olympics. Ayumu would hope to defeat Shaun for gold in China.
