In today’s world, not everyone might recognize Tony Hawk as easily as they might recognize Phelps or Biles. But, it does not take away from the fact that he was one of the few individuals who made skateboarding what it is today. Tony Hawk, more popularly known as the “Birdman,” is an American skateboarder.

Born in 1968, he has earned 73 titles in the game, being named the top vert skater from 1984 to 1996. Also, he was the guy who invented some of the moves in snowboarding. Moves like the ‘540-rodeo flip’ or the ‘saran wrap’ were his brainchildren.

Tony, too, found their reaction to his sporting abilities kind of peculiar. He shared, “Sometimes they tell me that their friends saw me on certain shows and then ask me what I was doing.” He also added that “It helps to validate my time away.” The kids totally thought their father to be a hero figure!

What is the Birdman doing now?

Currently, Hawk is 56, far enough to be labeled a skateboarding youth. But a quick look on Twitter will prove that age has some serious catching up to do with him. He still skates around, performing potentially risky and honestly jaw-dropping stunts.
