46 Years Younger to Tony Hawk, Skateboarding Youngster Fuels Her Inner Olympics Passion Putting the Whole Generation to Shame

At the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, a remarkable young skateboarder from the Philippines won over the entire world. This talented child is also among the youngest participants in the competition, hence, it is incredible that she managed to qualify for the women’s skateboarding park final. Her performance in a field where all other contenders are experienced players is noteworthy and has attracted admiration from the sports sphere, as it shows an indomitable passion for the game.

She is only nine years old but is already a skateboard queen which makes her forty-six years younger than skateboarding legend Tony Hawk. The Olympics is a dream she hopes she will pursue someday because of her commitment and skills on the skateboard.

Mazel Paris gives wings to her Olympic dreams

Born in the Philippines and currently based in California, Mazel Paris Alegado started her skateboarding life due to her older brother’s influence from childhood. This was evident in the way she threw herself into skateboarding. She now hopes to turn pro and compete in the Olympics, which appears to be no more than a distant fantasy. “I’m really proud that I got here. My dream is to be a pro skater. I would love to go to the Olympics,” she said in an interview.

Later, in a snippet shared by The Olympic Games’ official handle, she expressed, “My dream is to go to the Olympics and the X-Games and be a pro skater.” Honoring this 9-year-old’s wonderful achievement, The post on Twitter added in the caption, “Only 9 years old! Mazel Paris Alegado is Team Philippines’ youngest member. She just finished seventh in the women’s skateboarding park final at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. We can’t wait to see what she does next!

This incredible journey brought her into the Asian Games, a long-time dream for the young girl skater. Describing her feelings about the Asian Games, Alegado said she was thrilled, “ “I was so excited because I was about to skate in the Asian Games, and I just did. So, it was so fun.” Besides the young prodigy, there are other women in the skateboarding domain who are also doing the extraordinary.

The 2023 Asian Games women’s park skateboarding final witnessed one of Japan’s teenage prodigies, Hinano Kusaki, pocketing a gold medal in style, as she dazzled the world. The winning score came as a result of her second run where she scored 87.78 points with a 540-degree spin.

Amazingly, she threw in an 88.87 run to drive home her superiority in the event. In three runs, Kusaki alone scored above 80 every time. The silver went to Li Yujuan of China, while Mao Jiasi won the bronze.

The impressive performance of Mazel Paris Alegado during the upcoming Asian Games 2023, and not just putting her on the skateboarding map, has rekindled her zeal for the Olympics.
