There’s only one route that leads everyone to skiing excellence, and that ends up at the door of skiing couple Mikaela Shiffrin and her Norwegian boyfriend, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. However, the past few weeks have not been fortunate for the two, as one after another, both of them, witnessed a series of drawbacks.

Given some of the tests we’ve done the past few days and the training that I’ve done and seeing how I’ve reacted to that in the last few days, it’s just too soon to race in Andorra“, Mikaela Shiffrin said as she pulled out of slalom and giant slalom World Cups in Soldeu earlier this month after a horrific crash. But Mikaela is not the only one overcoming injuries these days.

Recently, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde took it to his official Instagram account and posted a couple of pictures from his rehab journey. Alongside the pictures, he penned, “Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet here… I’ve been working hard at @basefive to rehab after this injury. A couple of days before, Shiffrin’s boyfriend Aleksander Aamodt Kilde also met the misfortune. While skiing across the globe, he suffered a serious incident that left him struggling on the slopes. Unfortunately, the Norwegian witnessed a life-threatening crash during the World Cup downhill race in Switzerland.

The two-time Olympic medalist suffered two torn shoulder ligaments, a dislocated shoulder and a laceration calf that urgently required surgery. Soon after the incident, Kilde was immediately taken to the hospital and was diagnosed with nerve damage. Even though sking can be dangerous sometimes, the couple knows how to handle it.
