What happens when two legendary sportspersons, known in their respective fields for their daring adventures, decide to visit one of the most hazardous places on earth? Contrary to what most people might do, they have loads of fun irrespective of the risks involved. As Lewis Hamilton and Shaun White spent their time in Antarctica, their championship mindset shone through even during fun activities. In one instance, White saluted Hamilton’s never-give-up attitude.

As the F1 superstar is spending quality time with the three-time Olympic gold medalist, the snowboarder’s Instagram page is filled with posts from their time having fun together. But one post of White truly defines what makes his tour-mate Lewis Hamilton great at what he does.

Shaun White wrote on his Instagram, “People seem to love the my last water vid so I had to share this. @lewishamilton is such a legend. He had the guts to follow me over the Antarctic water, and after not making it he immediately hiked back up, soaking wet and freezing to do it again! That’s the champions mind set and I loved seeing it”.

The video nicely complimented the context, as White smoothly snowboarded through the icy waters of a water body there. As Lewis Hamilton followed him, he made a smooth transition from sloping down the powder to the water. However, his speed was so high (as is second nature to him) that his board capsized and Hamilton fell into the water.

There were some laughs, but then Hamilton got up. He squeezed his shoe out of the water, hiked back up with his wet clothes and he tried his luck again. And as White put it, champion that he is, this time he succeeded.

The video showed Hamilton this time in slow motion, elegantly snowboarding over the water and making it to the surface. Needless to say, the freezing temperature of Antarctica is always a deterrent in trying out such activities. However, the two have been vacationing in many places for a long time now. They traveled to Argentina from there and visited the world-famous Iguazu Falls.

This time, it was the Olympian, and not the Formula 1 racer, who could hardly withstand the impact of the waterfalls, as they sailed directly into it. White’s girlfriend, Vampire Diaries fame Nina Dobrev also accompanied them on the trip. On the work front, White has retired after he last competed at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 where he came fourth in the halfpipe snowboarding event, whereas Hamilton’s last entry was at the Australian Grand Prix in 2023.
