The WSL Championship Tour kicks off later this month, and the elites are neck deep in prep mode to claim their supremacy. Hawaii-born surfer John John Florence is considered one of the world’s best surfers and he can’t wait to get back in his natural habitat as Gabe Medina eyes yet another title win. In a recent behind-the-scenes clip, Florence’s training regimen is an indictment of his never say die attitude and he’s sure to reclaim all his rightful glory.

Florence and Medina’s rivalry has been one of the most titillating feuds in the surfing universe, and both are worth keeping an eye on as the Championship Tour season inches closer. While Medina’s radical moves awe fans, Florence’s poised maneuvers are a visual vista too.

In his recent Instagram post, John Florence has highlighted the new tools that he hopes to bring him good luck at the impending tournament. “Been working really hard with the team this last month on getting ready for the year”, reads the two-time world champion’s post as he shows off some impressive moves on his surfing board from Pyzel. With the Olympic prize on the horizon, Florence will look to make his start of the season a comfortable one in his home ground, while Medina looks to prepare for the tournament with a thirst to price his mettle.

The short video clip on Instagram shows Florence’s upgraded arsenal, which might become the deciding factor in who secures the top spot at the WSL Championship. “We have brought up the volume and adjusted the tails on some of the boards”. wrote Florence in his Insta post, and fans believe the upgrade might be just the thing he needed to claim his status among his peers.

That’s not all. Florence also proclaimed that in the quest for heightened power and drive, he and his team have been experimenting with bigger fins and things are looking satisfactory as of now. John’s excitement of the year is only amplified by the prospect of seeing the two of the world’s current best fighting it out in the menacing waves.

One Take at a Time
Growing up, I didn’t really have an interest in Olympic sports, but it was always something intriguing. As I found the means and the opportunity to explore its world, I found sports like volleyball, and track & field to be something that had tons to offer instead of just scoring through kills and sprinting toward the finish line. Whether it is Nebraska Huskers dominating the court or Noah Lyles maintaining his winning spree on the tracks, these two sports never fail to serve adrenaline rush to their spectators.
