Hours After Taking On a New Challenge, Mark Zuckerberg Gets Special Reaction From Kelly Slater on His Latest Achievement

Besides investing his brain in several innovations throughout the day, internet entrepreneur Mark Zuckerberg knows how to strike the right work-life balance. Whether it is foiling or playing VR, the Facebook founder likes to do things that bring him solace. Surfing is avidly one of those activities that Zuckerberg cannot get enough of. In fact, the tech tycoon also has a great rapport with 11-time world champion Kelly Slater who sometimes hypes him up at his achievements. Recently, the 51-year-old reacted to Zuckerberg’s new achievement at a martial art championship. 

On May 7, Mark Zuckerberg took to his Instagram to share his newly unlocked achievement at his first jiu-jitsu competition. He posted a few pictures from his winning moment. Among several other renowned personalities, surfer Kelly Slater also supported the Facebook CEO.

Mark Zuckerberg recently bagged a gold and a silver medal in his first-ever jiu-jitsu tournament. Sharing the wonderful news with his 11.3 million Instagram followers, the 38-year-old posted five to six pictures of his performance and his winning moment.

He also added a heart-warming caption with his post, that read “Competed in my first jiu-jitsu tournament and won some medals for the Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu team.” Moreover, he also thanked his mentors with whom he had been practicing since last year, “Thanks to @davecamarillo @khaiwu @intense0ne for training me!”

Nevertheless, amongst many congratulatory messages, surfing champion Kelly Slater also expressed his happiness for Zuckerberg. He added two power and strength-indicating emojis in the comment section. Slater wished for more achievements for the tech giant and that he excels more in his endeavors.

Both Kelly Slater and Mark Zuckerberg hype each other on Instagram. Last year, the Facebook giant congratulated the world’s greatest surfer for his brand Outerknown in his post. He recognized the great quality of the brand’s sweaters and also wrote that Slater was the GOAT of surfing and terry cloth. 

Besides keeping in touch with renowned personalities, Zuckerberg once explained his surfing routine.

According to a report by the New York Post, Mark Zuckerberg likes to surf early in the morning. He explained in the interview that going through the emails first thing in the morning messes up his mind and he sometimes “struggles to cope with getting punched by bad news.” Hence, to respite his mind in the morning, he goes out into the sea.

Besides surfing his stress away, he explained, “When you’re out there in the water, it’s pretty hard to focus on anything else”. The Harvard alumnus rides a hydrofoil board that helps him surf above the water. Being on the water ripples for some time in the morning brings him solace and helps clear his mind to get started for the day.
