Legend Kelly Slater has rocked the surfing world with his magnificent 11 world championship titles. However, besides, Slater’s zen-like dedication to his sport, the 51-year-old is also interested in fashion. Therefore, he created his own surf clothing brand, Outerknown, producing fashionable surf clothes. Apart from Slater’s own fashion brand, he always looks out for eye-catching fashion antics. Recently, he expressed his love for a shirt on his social media.

Yesterday, Kelly Slater took to his Instagram to obsess over a shirt that had his image printed on it. Besides gushing over it, the surfer added a special note on his story for the clothing item. 

Kelly Slater’s interesting new obsession

In his last Instagram story, Kelly Slater reshared a story of a fan wearing his shirt. It was not any regular shirt. The easy-breezy clothing item had a picture of Kelly Slater printed all over it, along with a floral design accentuating its look. 

Moreover, the fan who wore it shared his picture, adding a hilarious caption to his story, “Hung Out with @kellyslater”. He was partying in Nashville, Tennessee at night.  Slater was so intrigued by the stylish shirt, that he also expressed his desire to have one. Hence, he reshared the story and wrote a four-word message, “I need this shirt”. 

Previously, Slater shared his knack for fashion in an interview with WIRED, the surfer was asked about using gloves while surfing. He explained that gloves were quite in fashion in the 80s, and hoped that they return to styling in surfing again. Last month he took another opportunity to appreciate a musical great’s fashion sense.

Kelly Slater comments on Elton John’s fashion sense

Last month, Kelly Slater shared an Instagram video of legendary singer Elton John. Sharing the video, the surfer expressed that he was a huge fan of the singer. Listening to his raw voice in the video was an absolute fan-boy moment for him. Besides, gushing over Elton’s singing prowess, he also commented on his style statements.  

The surfer, completely in awe of the British singer’s talent appreciated his glitzy fashion, and added that he loved his luxurious stage outfits and his iconic huge glasses. He wrote in his Instagram story, “I always loved his outfits and the huge glasses he wore in concert”.

Indeed, it’s great how the surfing legend has great taste in fashion. Many of his appearances while surfing and in other public events suggest that.
