En route to the serene Banyak Islands, the boat was battered by a fierce storm. It was set in motion a sequence of events that lead to their disappearance. As the night fell, one boat found refuge, while the other, carrying the Australians, vanished into the turbulent sea.

Elliot Foote, the birthday celebrant, had meticulously planned the journey to mark his milestone. The group of friends spanned various chapters of his life – from school days at Sydney’s Scots College to his recent residence in Mullumbimby. Steph Weisse, his girlfriend, and others formed a tightly-knit community of adventurers. The disappearance of the Australians prompted a swift and determined response.
