“I’ve come off my board and my head has hit the bottom of the ocean”, recalled Brooke Hanson as she spoke to 7news.com.au. Hanson, a lifelong swimmer, went surfing in Coffs Harbour, on the north coast of New South Wales. While she has braved large waves before as well, the brunt of the waves this time was a little too much. Talking about her ordeal, she continued, “I took that leg rope off, laid on my back, and just yelled ‘Help’”.

Hanson didn’t know if she was getting any help from any corner. But much to her blessing, her husband Jared Clarke, a firefighter and surf live saver, reached there, scooped Hanson up on the board, and took the brunt of the waves himself. Also present among her rescuers were a trauma surgeon, a retired paramedic, a carpenter, etc. Hanson escaped from the clutches of something more devastating.
