Florida’s Jacksonville Beach once ranked among the world’s top 10 beaches for its massive residential and non-residential visitors. In fact, the beach is renowned as a popular surfing spot for its sandy bottom, making it easier for surfers to take on the waves. However, this popular beach is currently making its visitors experience hazardous situations.

On May 20, the online news website, First Coast News reported about rescuing 11 swimmers on Jacksonville Beach from a tragic incident. Moreover, presently the officials at the beach are running a special program to prevent people from experiencing any mishaps in the sea. What could have been this tragic incident that occurred?

Catastrophe looming at the Jacksonville Beach
According to a report by First Coast News, the rip currents at Jacksonville Beach are currently gushing strongly in the sea, making it dangerous for people to enjoy. On Saturday, nearly 11 beachgoers were pulled out from the strong waves to the shore. Training and Operations Officer, Maxwell Ervanian revealed to the news website that on the incident day, the rescue teams received emergency calls eight times for rescuing the helpless swimmers in the sea.

Since then, the beach official are abiding by safety measures to prevent visitors from getting carried away by the waves. Presently, the officials have posted red flags at the beach to alert swimmers from jeopardizing their lives. Furthermore, the officer told the website, “We are recommending bathers and beachgoers to stay in knee-deep water, today.” The rescue team has created awareness at the beach by popularizing the slogan, “Waist Deep, is Too Deep.”

Besides maintaining knee length in the sea, the officials have also asked swimmers to swim in front of the lifeguards. Under their supervision, swimmers would remain protected. However, in case an emergency arises in the absence of lifeguards, then beachgoers must immediately call 911.

Man’s arms slits from surfboard bleeding like a blood bath
Last month, surfer Mathew Cassidy experienced a catastrophic injury at Byron Bay’s Wategos beach in New South Wales, Australia. While surfing at the sea, a female surfer’s rogue board slit his arm, leading to massive blood loss. In no time, he could see his flesh popping out of his arms, unveiling her arteries.

As soon as he reached the beach, he was immediately given medical assistance by the bystanders. Later on, it was revealed that the female surfer had taken on the waves with her leg rope. It is an essential part of surfing that prevents the surfer from losing his /her surfboard and also from going in other directions. Since the lady did not wear it, the officials at the beach decided to ban surfers who performed the sport without a leg rope.
