Team USA has begun promoting Carissa Moore’s second bid for the Olympic gold. She got a bye to the Paris Olympics in August at the World Surf League Tahiti Pro Championship Tour event. Now, the US surfing team is pampering Moore with support through an exclusive video interview. Team USA shared a clip of the interview on X with an accompanying post reading, “Two years ago, @rissmoore10 made history in Tokyo. Now she’s heading back for more Get to know more about the first-ever surfing Olympic gold medalist on her #RoadToParis”. During the interview, Moore bared her soul and rekindled her passion for the sport, expressing her excitement to compete once again on the Olympic stage.

She was beaming with joy and pride as she introduced herself as an American surfer attending the Paris Olympics. Thereafter, she reminisced about her earliest surfing memories with her dad, who pushed her into the sport. She began surfing the waves at the age of five at Waikiki Beach, where she learned the ropes of the sport. She had unknowingly fallen in love with surfing, which she realized when her dad asked her, “Where do you want to go with surfing?” Her dad saw in her the capability of rising to the top of the game, and as history would tell, he was absolutely right. But Carissa Moore was not doing it for glory. Instead, it was a genuine love of surfing that drove her to the 2020 Olympics. Now, she is chasing after that same “very special” feeling in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Carissa Moore’s quest for Olympic glory in Paris

Carissa Moore loved the team camaraderie during the 2020 Tokyo Games. Each surfing legend had one “common goal” in mind, which was to earn gold for America. It was a special experience for her, and she resolved to do this again. Therefore, she braved the scariest and the most intimidating waves in Teahupo’o and booked a ride to the Paris Olympics alongside fellow countryman John John Florence.
