Years after this incident, Slater finds himself grappling with another injury, prompting him to undergo hip surgery. He recently posted this update on his social media.

He took to his Instagram stories, where he is seen resting his leg on a couch while watching the Rip Curl WSL Finals. Slater captioned the story, “On the couch post hip surgery watching the #WSL Finals…” In this particular story, he also replied to the question, “who he got in the women’s?” To this, Slater replied, “Caroline Marks has looked great so far this morning. Love to see her pull it off for Florida.” He further appreciated the efforts of Carissa Moore and wrote, “I think she has the edge on the paper.”

However, the reason for what led to his hip surgery remains in suspense, and he did not post any updates on how he ended up in that situation. Regardless of what happened to this eleven-time champion, he is there cheering for other surfers. He also shared a post later and applauded 2023 surfing world champions Caroline Marks and Filipe Toledo. In California, these two athletes delivered a spectacular performance, emerging as world champions while defeating their world-class rivals.

Going by his talent, this 28-year-old surfer defeated his Australian counterpart, Ethan Ewing, and claimed his second world title.
