After Leon Marchand, Texas’ Bob Bowman Gains Another Frenchman to Train at New Job

Bob Bowman formerly coached the GOAT swimmer, Michael Phelps, and the NCAA Champion, Leon Marchand. He is now in the news for being hired by the University of Texas as Head Men’s Coach to provide coaching. The longtime coach of Arizona State University is prepared to gain another Frenchman, under his grounding.

Declared as the freshly appointed director of swimming and diving at the University of Texas, Bob Bowman will also be serving as the head coach for Texas in the coming future.

The post on Texas University’s Senior swimmer, Nelson Carter’s official X account declared the news, “The Franco-Spanish Rafael Fente-Damers has decided to swim for the University of Texas!” and it has gathered more attention as the University of Texas hired the iconic swimming coach to lead the men’s swim team this season. 

After Leon Marchand and Bob Bowman’s recent partnership in the 2024 NCAA Championship that clocked 1:46:35 in the 200m breast stroke in the end of March 2024, Nelson Carter is the new Frenchman who targets to go past all records that have been set by the Bowman students.

While Nelson Carter’s career highs have been pretty decent in his previous SEC Championships, 19.67 in the 50m free and 42.27 in the 100m free, he aims to get better at his game with the legendary Bob Bowman training him this time, in the similar way he trained the iconic swimmers of all times, the French icon from the Arizona State, Leon Marchand who draws comparisons to the most decorated, Michael Phelps.

The legacy of the swimming coach

Bob Bowman who has etched his name worldwide, from the Olympics to the Hall of Fame, for his tremendous coaching efforts in men’s swimming, lately celebrated the victory in NCAA Championships while he was a trainer under the Arizona State. Helping the most decorated Olympian in any sport, Michael Phelps to clinch 28 swimming medals in Olympics, he has had a history of coaching many swimmers from Team USA and guided them to grace the Olympic medals.

Recently coached the rising French star swimmer Leon Marchand, who holds a bountiful collection of World Championships, NCAA titles and European crowns, Bob Bowman recently exclaimed to Ap News, “Obviously, we’d like to win more gold medals and I think we will.” (definitely, under his special coaching), he said after heading to his last few matches with Leon Marchand representing the Arizona State.
