Seven years old Micheal Phelps would have never imagined that following his mother’s advice to go swimming would change his life altogether. What started as an activity to outlet his energy gradually became an inseparable part of Michael’s life. With sheer courage and determination, Michael Phelps eventually became the GOAT of swimming.

Known for his honest self and strong opinions, Michael Phelps, took a stand against his idol and Tennis legend Novak Djokovic. In an interview with CNN, Phelps took a stand contrasting Djokovic’s actions.

Michael took a stand against Novak Djokovic

In a CNN interview, “The Baltimore Bullet” was asked to share his opinions on the ongoing Djokovic hullabaloo.” During the Covid time, the Australian Open mandated vaccinations.

The 21 times singles Grand Slam winner Djokovic was deported. It later came into the public domain that tennis star Djokovic was unvaccinated. A covid victim himself, Phelps was unimpressed by his idol’s stand. Talking about his experience, the Gold medalist said, “1st time I had Covid, it was terrible. I thought I was going to die for 36 hours.”

Talking about responsibilities, Phelps adds, “I think as athletes, we are role models.” Phelps added, “We all need to be on the same page.” According to the swimming star, unity is the strongest weapon, and we can overcome anything “if we are going to go through this together.”

Michael Phelps prioritizes mental health

Phelps is among the very few athletes who speak in support of the importance of mental health. When gymnastics GOAT Simone Biles withdrew herself from the Tokyo Olympics, Phelps came out in her support.

It is not just that he supports his colleagues and fellow athletes. Phelps also teaches the importance of mental health to his young kids. He teaches them the importance of reaching out for help.
