Swimming legend Michael Phelps is the record holder of the maximum number of Olympic medals ever won by any athlete across any individual Olympic sport. Phelps definitely was born with talent but he did not achieve it all on his own. It was after training with coach Bob Bowman, and with his strict techniques and constant guidance, Phelps was able to refine his talent. Throughout his decorated career, Phelps stuck with Bowman and his teachings. As Phelps retired, Bob Bowman took up new swimmers under his wing whom he is guiding toward the path of success.

However, Phelps’s retirement doesn’t mean the two have parted ways completely. As Bob Bowman and his new team create history in Minnesota, Phelps’s mother and wife send in their heartiest congratulations.

Arizona State Sun Devils team recently secured second place at the NCAA Championships. The team secured the highest finish in the program’s history. Sharing a picture with the trophy and fellow coaches, Bowman wrote, “What a privilege it is to work with these coaches! @sirherb_the3rd has done exceptional work leading the men’s program and in his role as CEO of SunDevil speed is fostering incredible swimflation!”

He further mentioned that Logan Hirka has been with them since Day 1, always spreading his positive energy. Moreover, Hirka’s group is on the rise, and already making “some noise.” Bowman continued, “Together with @swimcoachrachel and @schmittzilla who are quietly and consistently building our women’s team into a national brand, our future is bright indeed! 🔱🆙😈📈❤#O2V #vibecheck #GoDevils!”

Michael Phelps Gifts NFL-Themed Present to Coach Bob Bowman

Soon after the post was shared, congratulations started flooding in for the coach and his team. Former student Michael Phelps’s wife and mother also sent their wishes.

Over the decades Bob Bowman has spent coaching Michael Phelps, he gradually became a father figure to the swimming champion. So it seems natural that Bowman formed a great bond with Phelps’ family along the way. And as Bowman is moving forward in his career, even if it’s without Phelps, the legend’s family is happy for him.

Adding a pinch of humor to her congratulatory message, Michael Phelps’s wife, Nicole Phelps, commented, “Congrats Grandpa!” Mama Phelps, too, took to the comments section and wrote, “Congratulations Coach B-man…love it❤.” The sporting world also joined the Phelps family in congratulating the coaches and their team.
