Therefore there was much hype around him for the 2022 World Championships among swimming enthusiasts. However, Dressel abandoned the Championships and went on a long break. He returned to the pool in 2023 for the World Trials but fell short of expectations.

The iconic swimmer could not make the team and secure a spot in the Fukuoka World Championships. But when his professional life has been rocky, his personal life has been thriving. Recently, Dressel made a happy announcement on Instagram, excited to start a new chapter in his life.

From setbacks to new beginnings for Caeleb Dressel

Caeleb Dressel took to Instagram on July 26 to announce that he is going to be a dad very soon. Dressel’s wife Meghan is pregnant with their first child. The couple have been longtime sweethearts since they met during high school swimming practice. They tied the knot in 2021 on Valentine’s Day in Florida. Meghan Haila Dressel works as a family and marriage counselor, and in her expert opinion, her husband is a dedicated family man. Now, the swimmer is excited to embark on this new chapter of his life and embrace the joys of fatherhood.

In his Instagram post, captioned “Mom and Dad”, Caeleb Dressel was hugging his wife from behind while she held ultrasonography images of their unborn child. The couple’s excitement and anticipation were visible on their smiling faces. Dressel also jokingly said, “It’s ok, you can put comments about my good swimmers”. With his blessing, the fans flooded the comment section with funny remarks full of lighthearted innuendos.

Caeleb Dressel’s uphill battle amidst recent swimming losses

Caeleb Dressel had competed in the U.S. National Championships held in Indianapolis in June. Many swimming experts were worried about his form after the long break, and given his performance, they were right to be worried. Dressel finished in the 22nd position in the 50m freestyle preliminary round. He also took part in the 50m butterfly, 100m fly, and 100m freestyle. Dressel failed to match his previous time in all of the events. The final blow to his comeback dream came when he was not allowed back on the U.S. National team.
