The United States has been home to many legendary swimming names. There have been several athletes who have stretched the limits of human capabilities. Swimming across a channel might be a “task” for some individuals but not for a superhuman. One such remarkable individual was born in America and achieved something that seemed impossible to human imagination. Jim Dreyer, affectionately known as “The Shark,” is a man who knows no boundaries when he is in the water. One notable occurrence involves an event in which Jim impressively towed a 27-ton car ferry while crossing Newport Beach Harbor, showcasing incredible aquatic strength.

Whenever Dreyer takes the plunge, an extraordinary achievement is on the horizon. With numerous accolades under his belt that might seem ridiculous to ordinary people, particularly in addition to his swimming and ultra-marathon pursuits, he is recognized for his off-court activities. Dreyer never hesitates to speak his mind on various matters. During an exclusive interview with Essentially Sports, the Michigan native shared a captivating story that involves former POTUS Bill Clinton.

While in conversation, he covered every nook and cranny of his career and personal life. In a particular segment, Dreyer was talking about his political ventures and was asked if he ever got a chance to meet any of the US presidents. To which he replied, “I haven’t met them face-to-face, but I have received two letters from President Clinton.”

He further added, “One was after I swam across Lake Huron; after I swam across Lake Huron, he sent me a congratulatory letter, which I thought was really cool.”

The second time he received another congratulatory letter, he was nominated for an award that he received for helping children. The American swimming prodigy expressed his gratitude to President Clinton for dedicating his time to connect with both American citizens and those who had accomplished remarkable feats.

He also referred to them as the “couple of big honors” in the meantime. Dreyer also shared an honor that mean more to him than the ones that he received from the then-President of the United States.
