It’s difficult to quantify the enormity of the achievements of Michael Phelps. The ‘Baltimore Bullet’ has won 82 medals in major international competitions like the World Championships, Olympics, and Pan American Championships. 65 of his 82 medals are golds, and 23 of those 65 are Olympic gold medals. However, the GOAT of competitive swimming is also an elite golfer and even set a rare golfing record in 2012.

America’s Favorite Video Today

At least for the day, Phelps has left behind golfing stars like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson behind in popularity. The swimming legend has sent the golf world into a frenzy as the video of his 2012 record has resurfaced on Twitter.

Earlier today, the Twitter page Historic Vids uploaded a video of Michael Phelps playing golf at the 2012 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The ‘Flying Fish’ has always liked golfing. In fact, he liked it so much that in 2013, the most decorated Olympian talked about sacrificing an Olympic bronze medal in exchange for some golf skills.

In 2012, Phelps was still a rookie in the sport of golf. However, he had already acquired the skills to play tournaments at an amateur level. The video shows the Olympian lining up for a putt as the commentators talk about his Olympic accomplishments. After Phelps takes the shot, one of the commentators also mentions that he is “learning to play golf.”

The Olympic legend’s record-setting shot made him very popular among golfing fans. And as the resurfaced video is making the rounds, people are not able to help but appreciate the olympian’s golf skills.
