Beyoncé once said, “If you liked it, then you shoulda put a ring on it.” Adam Peaty took that to heart and is now engaged to his long-time partner, Holly Ramsay. The breaststroke king looked forward to a neat 3-peat at La Defense Arena. However, it just wasn’t meant to be. Instead, he had to settle for a second-place finish in the 100m breaststroke, which shocked the swimming world. If that wasn’t enough, his Olympic stint at the French capital almost immediately came to a crashing halt.

However, after his heartbreaking exit, there’s one thing he’s always cherished—his relationship with Gordon Ramsay’s daughter. On September 12, he announced their engagement with a sweet, heartfelt note in the caption. “I can’t believe you’re going to be my wife. I’m truly the luckiest man on earth to have such a gentle, caring and beautiful woman by my side.” The swimmer met his partner during his time on Strictly Come Dancing. Holly’s sister Tilly contested alongside him and played cupid. The two initially started as friends.

They didn’t make their whirlwind romance public until June of last year. Peaty proposed with the ‘perfect yellow diamond ring’ and thanked Pragnell Jewellery for tirelessly helping him over the past 10 months to create what the 29-year-old envisioned. “Thank you, Marcus from @pragnelljewellery, over the last 10 months for finding and making the perfect yellow diamond ring. I trusted you with my vision, and you delivered. It’s perfect. 🤍” A beautiful picture of Holly Ramsay holding up her hand and showing off the dazzling ring accompanied this heartfelt message.

The 6x Olympic medalist continued, “Your family have always treated me so generously with their time, emotion and trust. I can’t wait to be joined with them too.” During an incredibly gloomy phase in his life, the swimmer found inspiration in none other than Gordon Ramsay. Upon witnessing the chef’s iron-clad professionalism, the 29-year-old took a page out of his book. He unexpectedly found a mentor in his future father-in-law. 

Peaty also thanked Holly for loving his 4-year-old son like her own. “Seeing you show the love you give to the most important person in my life, George, even from day one, there was never a question about you becoming my wife one day.” However, his partner has played an extremely crucial role in his life. That sentiment shined through during his contention at the 2024 Paris Olympics. What changes did his relationship bring in his perspective?

The swimmer showed his appreciation for his fiancé in his touching note. “You have been with me when I’ve been at my lowest and helped me understand myself to navigate my own darkness.” During an incredibly rough time, he was ready to leave the sport. However, the 8x world title holder reached out to Ramsay, and their friendship soon blossomed into a loving relationship. With the help of his partner and Ramsay Sr., he eventually found his love for swimming again. 

But Peaty also pointed out how she was with him during the highs as well. Holly would accompany the swimmer to all his meets and even cheer for him in Paris. Even though the 3x Olympic gold medalist couldn’t complete a 3-peat, he took in his stride. The credit for this goes to his fiancé: “She’s been pinnacle.” The swimmer confessed, “As for the first time in my life, I’m happy with the man I’ve become.” Congratulations to the happy couple for their ‘forever’.
