Giving in to peer pressure isn’t what made Caeleb Dressel the icon that he is. The 7-time Olympic gold medalist has announced that the first weeks of 2024 won’t see him returning to his element as the swimming world gears up for the TYR Pro Series in Knoxville. In his recent social media update, Dressel disclosed his decision to stay away from the year’s first major event to tend to his family responsibilities.

Only last month, Caeleb and his wife Meghan took over the internet with wholesome images of the couple basking in happiness. Along with struggling to find his mojo back, Caeleb also revealed that he and Meghan have been expecting a baby and it looks like the soon-to-be dad has his priorities straight in the face of professional adversities.

In his latest Instagram story, Caeleb has revealed that he will not be starting his Olympic journey right now. “I will not be at the Knoxville Pro Swim event this weekend“, writes the swimming sensation. Along with this, Dressel also hinted at the main reason behind this unprecedented reason. The high school sweethearts tied the knot in 2021 after being engaged for two years. However, Caeleb also looks forward to getting back in his game. “Wish I could be there!“, penned the swimming star, but it looks like the tournament isn’t enough to take Caeleb away from his family right now.

Nevertheless, after clinching victory at the 2023 US Open, Dressel is all girded up to continue his winning spree in Paris this July.

One take at a time

Growing up, I didn’t really have an interest in Olympic sports, but it was always something intriguing. As I found the means and the opportunity to explore its world, I found sports like volleyball, and track & field to be something that had tons to offer instead of just scoring through kills and sprinting toward the finish line. Whether it is Nebraska Huskers dominating the court or Noah Lyles maintaining his winning spree on the tracks, these two sports never fail to serve adrenaline rush to their spectators.
