The United States fared brilliantly at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, not unlike anytime else. One of their topmost contingents was the swimming team that won 11 gold medals at the Olympics. One of them was a teenager, Lydia Jacoby, who won the gold medal in women’s 100m breaststroke. She recently joined the US team at the University of Austin for a swimming relay camp. Jacoby had an incredible time there, which also served as good training before the Paris Olympics 2024. Lydia received overwhelming love and support from the swimming fraternity for her achievements so far.

Jacoby joined other Olympic gold medalists such as Caeleb Dressel, Katie Ledecky, and others in Texas for this swimming relay camp. A picture from the camp, shared by Jacoby, has been garnering the love of every swimming lover.

In a recent Instagram update, Lydia Jacoby wrote in the caption of it, “relay camp with team USA!” sharing alongside a string of pictures from the occasion. Jacoby was seen posing with Katie Grimes in all those pictures. They were in their swimwear, standing beside the swimming pool. Clearly posing like partners in crime, Jacoby and Grimes were all smiles.

In the last two pictures, another swimmer, Regan Smith, joined them for the photographs. Jacoby, born in Anchorage and raised in Seward, Alaska, was merely 17 years old when she won her first-ever gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. She became the first swimmer from her state of Alaska to compete at the Olympics. And she subsequently won. Jacoby completed her 100-meter breaststroke at a staggering 1:04:95. It was the fastest time ever recorded by a female American swimmer in the 17-18 age group.

Jacoby will be defending her gold next year in Paris, and the relay camp in Texas with all fellow American swimmers might’ve just been a stepping stone towards it.

The whole Swimming fraternity is extremely proud of Jacoby

While Jacoby looked jolly in her Instagram picture, she also made the day of her fans and the swimming world at large. Here’s how some of them reacted:

“Alaska #represent! We’re so proud of you up here”, wrote a fan from America’s 50th state. A state with approximately 733000 people, was extremely jubilant when someone from there won an Olympic gold.

“Good Vibes”, wrote Kate Douglass, who herself has been on a winning and record-breaking streak at the NCAA championships of late.

“Whoop whoop”, wrote another fellow swimmer Torri Huske, the current world champion in the long-course 100-meter butterfly event. She was emulating a celebratory sound for Jacoby.

“love u”, wrote another swimmer Bella Sims, showing her support for Jacoby.

“award for roommate with quietest alarm”, wrote her roommate Regan Smith, a fellow swimmer, who made a cheeky humorous reference to her friend.

Huske, Douglass, Smith, Katie Grimes, and many other swimmers were also present at the relay camp besides Jacoby, Caeleb Dressel, and Katie Ledecky. It was a great collaborative-cum-training-cum-warm-up session for all of them before the 2023 World Championships and the 2024 Paris Olympics. Team USA has won more medals than any other country in the history of Olympic swimming events. And they will look to continue their dominance in Paris as well.
