When the shark caught her leg, she did not understand it and thought it might be just a blow. But when she turned around, she witnessed this horror going on. She was later transferred to San Cristobal, from where she was taken by a military plane to Guayaquil. Her doctors said that she is stable now, and surgery was performed on her right leg. Her treatment was a long process since she had lost a lot of blood and her leg was severely lacerated.
