Previously, in an interview, he spoke about the first car that he bought with his savings as a rookie swimmer and how he had customized it. Phelps bought his first car with the fortune he earned from Speedo. He shared a little anecdote about him designing the car. Though he owned it, he had a deal with his mother that she will let him custom design the car if he breaks a world record. Little did she know that Phelps would turn that car into his customized machine! Phelps won eight medals in the 2004 Olympics and then there was no stopping him.

In an interview with IGN, he said, “I had to do it. I got a Cadillac Escalade. Put some rims on it, threw a couple TV’s in there, and installed a system. I stuck my Xbox in there, I had to go for it.” Unfortunately, he wrecked his car in a crash and had to sell it to a friend.

He liked to showcase his customized Cadillac in a video. Fascinated, he detailed the changes he made to transform it into the car of his dreams. Phelps added two TVs behind the headrests, placed his Xbox under the cushions, and incorporated “spinners” on the wheels. Evidently, his childish smile is a testament to his love for the car.

This Flying Fish started his journey from winning at least one gold medal to 28 medals among which 23 are gold. The deal with his mother made him resolute enough to own four cars now. In his 16 years career, he became one of the most successful athletes to be compared with Usain Bolt and Tiger Woods. He still possesses his passion for cars and owns four mindblowing motors.
