USA’s Paige Madden won second place as she clocked the time of 4:05.66. Interestingly, this was the second gold medal win for the 26-year-old after she bagged the 1500m freestyle event on day 1. The 1500m sprint saw the American swimmer jet past everyone at an astonishing speed, making the distance of one and a half kilometers look short.

The spectators at Knoxville, Tennessee saw Katie Ledecky clear the long-distance course in 15:38.81. Interestingly, while this earned Ledecky another sparkling gold medal, this was also the 17th fastest finish in the world. In fact, the 16 fastest performances before her TYR Pro Series finish also belong to Katie Ledecky.

Ledecky in a league of her own creation

It is often said that an athlete is in their own league. While this is true for Katie Ledecky as well, she stands out from the others because she has created her own league. It is rare to see an athlete completely dominate the fastest global finishes the way Ledecky has, etching her name in history alongside her own self.

The silver medal of TYR’s 1500m women’s freestyle was bagged by Aly Breslin. However, she finished the same course at 16:43.09.
