The 2024 iteration of the World Aquatics Swimming Championships will see the world’s top swimmers visit Doha to compete against each other. The US is a powerhouse when it comes to swimming and will be eager to win the major tournament next year. USA Swimming recently released the list of its final roster for the upcoming championships.

An announcement on social media broke the news of the list being made public. While every swimmer strived to qualify and compete for the stars and stripes in Doha, here’s a list of swimmers who made the list.

American swimming sensations moving to Doha in 2024

The US released a list of 18 participants for the upcoming World Aquatics Swimming Championship. Big names like Kate Douglas, Hunter Armstrong, Claire Curzan, and Nic Fink have qualified for the 2024 contest. USA Swimming tweeted an image carrying the list of all participants on its official X account. The tweet carried the caption, “Introducing the athletes headed to Doha for the 2024 World Aquatics Championships.”

The final roster announced for the Doha contest carried the names of five men and 13 women participants. While the Americans had won 38 medals compared to Australia’s 25, they lost the top spot due to low medal value. However, the US swimming superstars would look forward to taking the top spot and overcoming all odds in 2024.

The 2023 performances and possible gold medals

While the number of medals shows that the US has plenty of swimmers with world-level skills, just seven gold medals say that they can do even better. The list of participants released by USA Swimming carries the names of several explosive swimmers who have already proven their mettle in multiple contests. In fact, several of these swimmers were also part of the squad that took part in Fukuoka.

America’s freestyle expert Kate Douglas couldn’t bag a medal in the 100m freestyle in 2023. But, she has been working hard on her speed and form and has her eyes on the top prize in Doha. Moreover, given that she recently spoke about retiring from the sport, she will give her all in the upcoming contests. The Doha Championships will also prove to act like a litmus test for the 2024 Olympics. Will Douglas and other American swimmers raise the stars and stripes to the top in 2024?
