Now, during the Athens leg of the Swimming World Cup 2023, the swimming prodigy has once again raised his voice against the ongoing violence between Israel and Hamas. After his men’s 50m freestyle win in Athens, Andrew took center stage and addressed the victims of this ongoing war.

During the heats of the men’s 50m freestyle event in Athens, U.S. swimmer Michael Andrew impressed fans with a top qualifying spot as he clocked a time of 22.04 seconds. He then improved his time even further during the final event when he recorded a time of 21.96 seconds to secure a top-place finish against the likes of Issac Cooper, who finished second with 22.07 seconds, and Dylan Carter, who came third with 22.16 seconds.

According to a World Aquatics YouTube stream, Andrew further stated, “We’re so fortunate to be racing. Kind of dedicating all my wins to what’s happening in Israel and all the innocent lives at stake.”?This is not the first time Andrew has openly talked about the ongoing war situation between Israel and Hamas, as only recently the swimmer publicly applauded an Israeli soldier for his dedication to the sport.
