“Thank You…This is My Last”: Shaun White Hints at Retirement as Woes Continue Ahead of Beijing Olympics 2022

35-year-old Shaun White is currently fighting to clinch the Olympic berth for his fifth appearance. Shockingly, he has struggled in the Olympic qualifiers so far, and things are not looking any better going forward.
While he is yet to retire officially, Shaun recently bid goodbye to one of the biggest snowboarding competitions in the sport.

Shaun White announced retirement from Dew Tour
Shaun has been a dominant force in the sport for decades now; however, the Olympic gold medalist now feels restricted by his age. Albeit, Shaun, exhibiting excellence in the snow, is hoping to clinch what might just be the last Olympic gold of his career.
However, so far, he has failed to secure the Beijing Olympics 2022 berth in any of the qualifiers. Entering the Dew Tour finals on Sunday, the spotlight was on White. But, to his disappointment, Shaun finished in seventh place with 82.00 points.

To much surprise, Shaun made a huge announcement after his outing, saying, ”I’m so happy to put one in. Thank you everyone for being here. This is my last Dew Tour so thank you, Dew Tour. Thank you everybody here. I appreciate you!”
Earlier, Shaun had also hinted at his professional retirement after the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Can Shaun still qualify for the 2022 Beijing Olympics?
It has come down to a do-or-die situation for Shaun, as he has just one more chance left to make his historical appearance. In January, White will compete in the last qualifiers; Toyota US Grand Prix Mammoth Mountain.

White will have to secure a spot on the podium if he wants to take the flight to Beijing. Regardless of the results, one cannot deny Shaun’s insane determination and grit, giving it his all, even at 35. However, fans would hope Shaun makes the cut, as failure to do so will be a rather sad end to a magnificent career.
