“Thanks Mom”: Nathan Chen Pays Mother and Family a Heartwarming Tribute After Winning Gold Medal at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022

American figure skating star, Nathan Chen, was unstoppable, flawless, and all things phenomenal at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. Healing his woes from the 2018 Winter Olympics, Chen left no stone unturned to win the figure skating title in China.

Breaking records and leaving the world stunned with his smooth performance, Chen won his first Olympic gold medal on Thursday. As he tasted Olympic success, Chen took a moment to thank his family for their support and gave his mom a special mention.

Nathan Chen posts a throwback picture with a heartfelt caption

Nathan Chen dominated the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 ice skating grounds throughout. At the Olympic finals, Chen bagged an overall score of 332.60 to win his much-awaited gold medal. Post his victory, Chen posted a throwback picture with his mom and dad. He captioned the picture, ”Thanks mom ❤️ couldn’t have done this without my family.”

It was Nathan’s mother who first spotted the talent in him and pushed him towards the sport. Chen wanted to try out ice hockey; however, his mother handed him the skates instead. Now, years later, he is known as the quad king of figure skating. Notably, Chen defeated his inspiration to win himself the Olympic gold.

Nathan outclassed Yuzuru Hanyu to win his gold medal

Figure Skating legend, Yuzuru Hanyu, came to Beijing to defend his Olympic title. While he undoubtedly performed exceptionally, he had some unfortunate falls in his outings, leading to him missing out on the top three positions. Hanyu finished in the fourth position, losing his title to Chen.

Nathan has always been in all praises for Hanyu, and even though he was up against him, Chen applauded Hanyu for his incredible performance. He said post his victory, ”A few years back, I didn’t think 4F was possible, and [Uno] did it. The 4A attempt today was extremely close – I thought he was going to hit it. It’s great to see how Yuzu is pushing the sport forward – it’s really special to see.”
