The past year, the tennis icon was on hiatus to heed towards pregnancy. A bacterial infection threatening stillborn framed Naomi’s pregnancy complications and fears. However, when the journey required grit and resilience, Osaka sought reliability in one of the cherished track stars, Allyson Felix.

Allyson Felix, the 11-time Olympic medalist faced pregnancy complications back in 2018 with her firstborn, Camryn. Following the instance, the champion fought through legal intricacies involving maternity policy and medical treatments. Having experienced her share as an athletic mother, Naomi Osaka found the right trust in Felix as evidenced in her recent revelation.

Naomi Osaka finds reliance in Allyson Felix

The Women’s Tennis Association and Just Women’s Sports posted a collaborative post on Instagram with Naomi Osaka’s thoughts on motherhood. Stating that she has grown more relaxed and comfortable, the tennis icon revealed that athletic moms have been an inspiration and learning source. “I actually talked to Allyson Felix. She had a lot of really good advice,” the 26-year-old started. Noami further added that she had an opportunity to talk to Felix before and after the birth and to notice the incredible things.

“But I think I definitely see her and all the incredible things she does and she’s paved the way for a lot of us,” Naomi’s stance read. For Allyson Felix, who fought for maternal policies, and acknowledged the topic of the black maternal mortality crisis, Naomi’s remarks were a saying from many. Though the track star has now retired from the sport, her lending hand either way has held her righteous intentions for athlete moms and women.

The track star’s tribute to the women

Allyson Felix got back on the tracks a year into motherhood. After racing for 19 years, the sprinting icon had just one more goal to reach: the 2020 Olympics. Upon having attained the goal with a glistening bronze in hand, the icon went on till the 2022 season. And when she announced her retirement then, she did so with one last tribute to the women. “This season I’m running for women. I’m running for a better future for my daughter. I’m running for you,” the sprinter told Olympics.com.

Her brand, Saysh, launched in 2021, described as ‘for women, by women’ was a path chosen to lead herself out of fear’s control. “I’ll be sharing a series of announcements that I’m hoping will make the world better for women,” she said during her final season and the champion continues to work towards it.
