As the Paris Olympics 2024 is approaching soon, track and field stars are gearing up to actualize their Olympic dreams. With optimistic and winning mindsets, sprinting stars are making some significant decisions to refine their skills. In this regard, some well-known track and field athletes have made their exits from the popular American training group, “The Bowerman Track Club” to seek future growth.
After Olympic silver medalist Courtney Frerichs and seven-time NCAA All-American Vanessa Fraser, another sprinting icon Josh Thompson also parted his ways from the Bowerman Track Club. Now, the 2020 US Indoor 1500m Champion, Thompson announced his exit from the the American club sponsored by Nike, with a clear vision for future championships.

Taking to its official Twitter handle, Citius Mag shared the news of American middle-distance runner, Josh Thompson’s leaving the Bowerman Track Club. Along with posting a picture of Josh, they also shed light on Thompson’s accomplishments during his tenure with BTC. After his departure announcement statement, the post caption further reads “Highlights during Thompson’s tenure include:
- 2020 US Indoor 1500m Champion
- 2022 World Indoor and Outdoor Finalist
- 2:16.38 for 1000m
- 3:34.76 for 1500m
- 3:52.49 for the mile”

In addition to that, the recent post also provided the details of Josh Thompson’s next move as he decided to return to his home state of Nevada, to refine his skills. He is preparing for the upcoming outdoor season and looking to earn his spot on the US Olympic team.
The further post caption reads “Thompson will continue to be supported by Nike as he returns to his home state of Nevada in pursuit of making the 2024 US Olympic 1500 team 🤝.” Before Thompson split up with BTC, the club also experienced several departures including the renowned names of the sprinting world.

Star athletes quit BTC to pursue future growth
Several notable athletes besides Josh Thompson, which includes Grant Fisher, Elise Cranny, Cooper Teare, Matt Centrowitz, Woody Kincaid, and Marc Scott, have left the Bowerman Track Club. Before, Josh Thompson’s departure from the club, Courtney Frerichs, silver medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games parted her ways with the club. She had been 7 years with Bowerman, and she received noteworthy accomplishments during her time at the club.
While Courtney continues her partnership with Nike and Garmin Running, she is now training with Alistair and Amy Cragg’s Puma-backed team. Vanessa Fraser after leaving BTC, is pursuing her career with a venture capital firm in the Bay Area, marching on to sign with Saucony.
