Aleia Hobbs: A Struggling Parenthood and Adoption Tale

A phone call in June last year shook the world of the 28-year-old track star.  As the call came, Aleia Hobbs faced a chain of emotions and thoughts of uncertainty, but an unyielding feeling of love and hope reigned supreme. Aleia Hobbs, while at the peak of her career, had to take a break from the track because of her knee injury. While she was struggling against hateful comments and an abrupt pause in her career, a little soul stepped in her life to transform it forever. Amid the chaos, Amir King Hobbs entered as a beacon of love and light for the young couple.

Why was it tough for Aleia Hobbs to become a parent?

While little Amir, born into uncertainty, was abandoned after he was born, Hobbs was planning to embrace parenthood soon with her partner, but the couple was thrown into a whirlwind with a sudden phone call. there’s a baby in the hospital. He doesn’t have a mother, would y’all want him, was what they heard from her partner’s mom in the call. With a heart full of courage and compassion, the couple decided to redefine their priorities and embrace parenthood.

Amir was at the NICU for four weeks. Finally, when the little one made his way to his home, Hobbs had to leave for Europe. Aleia always wanted to have a child, I always wanted to become a mother. A big reason? I’m childish, too. I like to mess around, and this is somebody else I can be a child with. We can play all day together. But the journey of stepping into the role of parents was fraught with obstacles. From the NICU to sleepless nights and relentless paperwork, the couple finally got to call Amir their son. The couple began to take care of the fragile soul as foster parents so that he could at least have a safe space to reside.

However, handling the rigors of athletic training and also fulfilling the demands of parenthood did not turn out to be easy. They had to go through sleepless and tiring nights. But the unwavering determination and compassion of the couple did not allow them to think of an excuse.

How did she deal with it? Know her inspiring story

The parents settled down with an agreement to take time out for their son. The couple’s daily regime was put at stake, and thus, they decided to split their roles and responsibilities. They worked on shifts to nurture their baby boy. Hobbs, taking time out for her athletic training, took up the day shift, and her partner did the night shift. Amir is growing up fast as Aleia shared that he has already started going to daycare.

Speaking about the changes that parenthood has done to her, Aleia shared, it’s teaching me patience, generosity. She also shared that after she stepped into this new role, it has been tougher for her to get on the track. Aleia, as a proud parent, shared that Amir has often been referred to as a “strong baby” by doctors, and this has also convinced her that Amir “could definitely be an athlete”.
