The American team registered several great performances at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston. The indoor game of US athletes got further refined at the recent USATF Indoor Championship held in New York City. Now, the national body has set up a new team, as the athletes head to Glasgow for the World Championships.

6x World Champion Noah Lyles has made it to the final squad after his stellar performances. This also includes his latest win over the 60m world record holder Christian Coleman. Interestingly, USATF has released the complete list of all the US athletes selected for the World Athletics Indoor Championship.

Which athletes have made it to the final list of USATF representatives?

USA Track and Field recently added a tweet on X with the caption, “57 strong for Glasgow 24 🤩🇺🇸 Team USATF has been named for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 24!” The tweet carried a link for the list, which featured both Noah Lyles and Christian Coleman on the list.

The group includes 18 athletes who participated in the Tokyo Olympics, 33 members of the World Championships 2023 team, and 16 individuals who were part of the U.S. team in the 2022 World Indoor Championships in Belgrade. The other key USATF athletes on the list include Ryan Crouser (men’s shot put), Katie Moon (women’s pole vault), Sandi Morris (women’s pole vault), and Grant Halloway (men’s hurdles).

Holloway and Sandi Morris are returning to protect the World Indoor championships they secured in 2022. Morris aims to win her second consecutive women’s pole vault title. On the other hand, Holloway, the current world record holder, hopes to extend his 10-year undefeated run in the men’s 60-meter hurdles.

Grant Halloway improved his own world indoor record by running a 7.27 in the heats at the USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque last weekend. This shows how passionate these athletes are about the indoor season. However, a prominent US World Champ is particularly disinterested in these tournaments. In fact, she has previously even mocked the indoor season on social media.

National Athlete of the Year misses another indoor contest

2x World Champion Sha’Carri Richardson has opted to stay away from the World Athletics Indoor Championship. The USATF National Athlete of the Year didn’t participate in the Boston and the NYC events either. During the previous run of the World Indoors in 2022, Richardson had tweeted, “🥱Is indoor over yet?”

This time, however, Sha’Carri Richardson showed some involvement as she turned up to support her fellow athletes in NYC. While Richardson may choose to sit out, the new team set up by USATF is ready to take on Glasgow. How many gold medals do you think will the American flag get decorated with this time?
