The 2024 edition of the Millrose Games witnessed another great performance from American sprinter Christian Coleman. The 27-year-old raced first to the finish line in the 60m sprint and secured the gold medal for the third consecutive time. While this is great news for Coleman, it may spell trouble for Noah Lyles

The 6x World Champion showed his explosiveness at the 2023 WAC by winning three gold medals at the event. Now, Christian Coleman has responded to this feat of Noah Lyles with his triple-layered consistency. Lyles has been holding the title of the threepeater since his Budapest Conquest.

Christian Coleman and Noah Lyles saw their growth spurt together at the 2019 World Athletics Championship in Doha. While Lyles won the gold medal in the 200m dash, the 100m course was dominated by Coleman. Both the American sprinters then paired up in the 4x100m relay to win a golden glory together for the US.

While Noah Lyles returned in the 2022 WAC at Eugene to win the 200m dash once again, Christian Coleman didn’t return till 2023. But, instead of being a standout athlete just like Noah Lyles, he was just part of the 4x100m relay. However, the relay victory shined almost all of its light on Lyles, who completed his iconic threepeat at Budapest.

Noah Lyles seemed to have broken past everyone back then and several publications even started referring to him as the world’s fastest man. But, when Christian Coleman struck again, just one blow was enough to make a deafening noise. Coleman ferried himself on the back of Lyles by successfully defeating him, and it seems like he may do so once again.

When Noah Lyles got his perfect record stained by his own shadow

Noah Lyles had chosen to forfeit an appearance at the final race of the 2023 season, the Eugene Diamond League. However, he reversed his decision and chose to run the 100m dash. But, this turned out to be a losing effort for him as he lost to Christian Coleman. In fact, Coleman mimicked Lyles’ personal best of 9.83 seconds to nullify his absence at the 2022 Eugene WAC.
