The stage is set for the Boston Marathon 2024 to showcase the prowess of esteemed track and field athletes from around the world. The reputation of the world’s oldest marathon lies in its ability to produce raw talent. The Kenyan legend, Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot, remains an example of that. This time as well, several standouts from African countries will appear in the race to put their best stride in before the Paris Olympics. Gabriel Geay from Tanzania and Evans Chebet from Cheruiyot’s nation are the few notables for the event. However, to challenge them, a stark absence of American marathoners might loom over the Boston tracks.

As per the update, names like Conner Mantz, Clayton Young, and Emily Season will be missing from the schedule of the Boston Marathon 2024. But what reasons have been working behind such a concerted absence? Paris Olympics?

The Boston Marathon 2024 will Kickstart from April 15 and the Paris Olympics will set the set ablaze from July 26. So both contests keep a distance of almost 90 days. However, as per Boston Publication, the famed American marathoners will miss Boston’s contention because of the US Olympic marathon trials in Orlando.

For the 3x American top performer in Boston, Scott Fauble, this is the reason for missing the 128th Boston occasion. Moreover, with him, the Olympic trial qualified marathoner Conner Mantz and his ‘guide’ Clayton Young will also miss the April 15th event.

With them, Keira D’Amato will also miss the Boston affair. For all these stellar athletes, the Paris Olympics preparation has received the prime focus. But on a similar note, a disparage in scheduling the major marathons in the USA has also worked behind, keeping many names away from the participants’ list. So the American sprinters have to specify their choices in the contest.

On this topic, Scott Fauble added, “I’m not going to run Boston or another marathon between the trials and the Olympics unless I have to, to make the Olympics.” But, at the same time, the list of American participants in the Boston Marathon tells more things.

A deliberate attempt to keep the touch

As per the female participants’ roster, Emma Bates and Desiree Linden will feature in the Boston Marathon 2024. But interestingly, both of them are not Paris Olympic-bound. Bates already missed her turn in Orlando this year because of her injury. Linden is not on the Olympic participation list for her fitness level. So, who will be the American flag bearer in Boston?

Still, a Paris Olympics connection has worked here as well. Among the males, CJ Albertson and Matt McDonald will be in Boston from the American camp. Both of them are inclined toward making it a double in Orlando and Boston. So, a question mark still lingers on their preference of chances. And what for Mantz and Young, as they have already qualified for the Paris Olympics?
