Track and field is making the most headlines as the World Indoor Championships 2024 is midway. US track icon Christian Coleman earned his 60m sprint win (6.41s) on the 1st day. Outpacing his arch-rival Noah Lyles, Coleman also received a shoutout from NFL icon Robert Griffin III for his 4.12s 40-yard dash in a football arena years ago. After watching him run now, Griffin threw a $100k challenge at him.

The X post reads, “I got 100k for you if you go sub 4  @__coleman”, even though Coleman’s comment reads, “Mind you this was 7 years ago. My start way more efficient today”. NFL players, also known to make waves on track, are known for their track magnificence when it comes to speed. In the original post, Griffin penned, “For those watching the NFL Combine, there is a MASSIVE difference between football speed and track speed. Here is Christian Coleman running a 4.12 second 40 yard dash at 85% effort. The NFL Combine record is 4.22”. 

40 yards is 3.576 meters and Coleman considers clocking in at 4.21s, is not up to the mark. That is the reason why he gave the ‘7 years ago’ disclaimer. But keeping in mind his growth over the years and the indoor world record (60m) under his belt, he shall snatch $100k from the former football quarterback any day. Besides this, the 27-year-old has also secured a name in the NFL domain for a super contentious reason.

Christian Coleman and NFL Tyreek Hill: Adversaries or not?

There have been speculations about the fastest 60m sprinter, Christian Coleman or Tyreek Hill. The former holds an indoor world record of 4.34s and the other clocked in at 4.70s at the USATF Masters event last year. Hailing from the Miami Dolphins, Hill, aka Cheetah, has garnered love for his impressive speed. So, having a look at their individual bests, it’s clear that the NFL wide receiver isn’t anywhere close to the track great.

Christian Coleman Sends a Message for Noah Lyles After Avenging His USATF Indoor Championships Loss

Having cemented his position as the 60m reigning champion, he didn’t shy away from acknowledging his measure. Said, “I think I am the greatest 60m runner ever, 100%. But the exciting part is that I feel like my ceiling is so much higher.” In June’s Olympic trials, fans hope to witness another spectacle when the two rivals, Lyles and Coleman will go head-on again.
