With the latest victory, Coleman is understandably now eyeing his chance to match his arch-enemy’s Olympic record.

Olympic medalist Lyles and three-time World Championships gold medalist Coleman’s rivalry is one for the history books and their tussle has seen both of them square off several times. With Lyles coming out on top at the recently held USATF Indoor Championships, Coleman’s win in Glasgow is justifiably supplying some extra boost to the system for the two-time Diamond League winners.

“At the end of the day, Noah’s a great competitor and a great professional…and so am I“, Coleman didn’t hesitate to acknowledge. He further stated that despite having vastly differing skill sets, both of them are incredibly confident about their own prowesses. “We are both talented in our own right“, claimed the 6th-fastest man in the 100m event.

“I know I had to bring my A-game and he knows he has to bring his as well when we step out there“, mentioned Coleman when talking about what motivated him to clinch first place after a nail-biting race.

With that, Coleman rang a hopeful statement of “…carrying that momentum to Paris“. Coleman’s words only reflect the mutual respect the duo has for each other, which was under the spotlight after Lyles’ win at the USA Indoor Championships.

The long rivalry made both competitors see the best in each other

Earlier this month, Lyles recorded his first victory over Coleman. He defeated Coleman at the USATF Indoor Championships for just .01 seconds. Noah had to pay his homage to the latter for pushing him to continuously up his game in the 60m event. “I thank this man“, Noah was heard talking about his national colleague for keeping him motivated when dark thoughts clouded his mind.
