After storming into the final relay line-up in Glasgow, Noah Lyles had to face staunch criticism from the track and field fanatics. On the third day of Glasgow Indoor, he replaced Trevor Bassitt from the final relay line-up competing in the men’s category. Despite Noah Lyles’s fastest 3rd leg that evening, the American team had to digest a defeat from the champion Belgian team. Since then, a lot of feuds have taken place discussing the minute aspect of that relay race. Every time, Noah Lyles has come under the hoary attack for his late selection into the team.

But the latest one might give the 3-peater a sigh of relief. The heinous scene somewhat has left a question mark on the fair play of the Belgian relay team.

An appalling clip with millions of questions

On March 4, Travis Miller, the NBC Sports Director of Social Media, shared a 5-second snippet on X captioned with ‘Rubbin is racing.’ The clip showcased American sprinter Christopher Bailey waiting for the baton on the track in a relay final as a rushing Noah Lyles did his best to hand it to his compatriot. Meanwhile, Alexander Doom interfered by pulling Bailey backward on the overlapping track, disrupting his chance of swift movement. In the clip, Bailey could be seen evading Doom’s resistance. However, the final result did not favor him or the USA relay team.

As the final timing came to the fore, Noah Lyles’s squad stopped at just 0.06 late compared to the Belgian pack. Nobody could answer now what would have happened if the officials made their timely entry into the scene. However, all the stakeholders from that fiasco have yet to respond to the gravity of the situation. But the other complications regarding that relay run are still hounding the American track and field situation.

Fred Kerley continues his verbal attack on Noah Lyles

Fred Kerley, the American sprinter, repeatedly questioned Noah Lyles’s late selection into the relay team after that final. The 100m world champion tried his best to reply to Kerley with a rejoinder. But the 3x world champion is in no mood to stop the war he waged on Noah Lyles and USATF. In a fresh controversy, Fred Kerley did not mince his words as the USATF was at the receiving end. On X, after tagging the authority, on March 4, the 28-year-old lambasted, “Y’all play favoritism like mf. Y’all like puppets. For sure, yes men.”
