Sports fans worldwide remain on their toes to cheer for their favorite athletes. However, passionate fans are infamous for their reactions when their favorite team/athlete loses. A similar reaction was recorded in a clip on social media when Sha’Carri Richardson beat Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and pulled off an impossible feat at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest by 0.12 seconds. With that, she also took 0.02 seconds off the previous fastest set by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce last year.

The young American sprinter brought the world title home after sprinting to the finish line with absolute finesse. However, this did not sit well with certain fans who were cheering for Pryce. Her teammate Shericka Jackson won the silver medal, finishing just 0.07 seconds late. They turned almost hysterical when Sha’Carri Richardson crossed the finish line before anyone else. The women started running around the newsroom, constantly waving their hands in disbelief at the TV screen.

The Twitter community commented about the intensity of the fans and had a hearty moment. Several people also recalled seeing similar instances. However, what was more surprising and shocking for the fans was Richardson’s impossible win. Richardson was lining up on the edge of the track in lane 9 for the final sprint, which makes it even more difficult for an athlete to win from that position.

Even though she had the third slowest start, it made no difference as Sha’Carri Richardson pulled off the most impossible of runs and beat Shericka Jackson by 0.07 seconds, Fraser-Pryce by 0.12, and Ta Lou by 0.16 seconds.

Richardson completed the 100-meter run in 10.65 seconds. However, the legendary athlete Florence Griffith-Joyner’s 35-year-old world record of 10.49 still stands.

Though it was disappointing for Fraser-Pryce to have lost the gold, she walked away with a bronze medal. She could not crank things up due to a knee injury. In fact, hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levron also chose to stay out of the World Championships because of a knee injury as well.
