Jamaica Olympian Britany Anderson‘s 2023 outdoor season was ruined because of a debilitating ACL injury. The 22-year-old hurdler suffered it during training in Padua, Italy. Back then, Britany had posted on her Instagram, “Unfortunately I will be sitting out this season, just to make sure I get the best recovery possible.” But she just made a positive announcement regarding that.

Anderson defied the odds to recover and reclaim her place on the track in less than a year. Anderson’s journey from injury to recovery resonated deeply within the track community. Therefore, renowned fellow athletes are congratulating Anderson’s resilience and unwavering determination to overcome adversity.

Recently, Britany Anderson posted a video on her Instagram handle showing her recovery phase captioning, “It’s been one full year!✨”. Anderson expressed her gratitude to everyone and wrote, “I owe it to the LORD and to the most incredible team he placed behind me”. Anderson also thanked her physiotherapist Mattia Cecconi and her coach, who gave her motivation during the recovery process. On a jubilant note, she concluded her post by reaffirming, “…I would never think I could overcome the process, but I DID IT! I DID IT!

In 2022, Britany Anderson set a new national record of 12.31 seconds and won a silver medal at the World Championships in Oregon in July. After such a dazzling display, her disappointment was compounded because she could not capitalize on this success in 2023 because of her injury. Despite that, Anderson’s determination won, which melted the hearts of her fellows as good wishes started pouring in.

Track stars offer support in Britany Anderson’s injury struggle

Elaine Thompson-Herah was too happy seeing her video and posted a clapping emoji, “👏👏”. Jamaican athlete Junelle Bromfield also wished her saying, “You are amazing Brit ❤️❤️❤️”. Another British sprinter Daryll Neita expressed pride and said, “We’re so proud of you!!! ❤❤”.

American-born Italian female sprinter Giancarla Trevisan with one national title boosted Anderson saying, “💙💙 yess Brit”. Another American track and field athlete, Nia Ali, shows her support by exclaiming, “And with so much grace! Let’s GOOOO ❤❤❤❤❤”. With all the wishes, she has her eyes on the Olympics as she stated a few months back.

“Being out for basically an entire season, it’s really hard to get back up and going out there again but I think I can do it. That just looks like getting healthy and getting in as many races as possible as I think it is going to help me for the Olympics and even after the Olympics,” she said in an interview in November 2023. She now prepares to get to the national trials and make the team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
