The World Athletics isn’t having the best time right now. Their proposal to bring new changes to the long jump rules has attracted severe backlash from track and field stars everywhere. And yet, World Athletics’ President Sebastian Coe can’t help but look forward to elaborate moments on the tracks when the Olympics make a comeback to Los Angeles in 2028. Coe’s personal achievements at the Olympics are the kind of stuff that legends are made of.
With four medals to his name on the grandest stage of them all (including two gold), Coe is arguably one of the finest British mid to long-distance runners of all time. Understandably, his ambitions to bring more thrilling action to the fans only took flight once he assumed his current office in 2015. His latest social media post came as a stamp on that.

Representing Great Britain, Sebastian Coe bagged a gold medal in the 1500m run at the 1984 Olympics. For reasons unsurprising, a return to the city only brings back joyous memories for the former track and field athlete. In his recent Twitter post, Coe can be seen standing in front of the prestigious Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which played host to the ’84 Games. Grinning broadly in the image, the 1986 European Athletics Championships winner captioned the post, “Spent an enjoyable afternoon in LA walking back down memory lane“.

However, for any track and field loyalist, it can be a difficult task to believe that reminiscing the bygone days is the only reason for Coe to return to the city that made him an international sensation overnight. And surely enough, the Briton looks to be making the final adjustments to the plans for the city to play host to the 2028 Olympics once again.
