Ever since it first made the news, ChatGPT has been the center of discussion almost everywhere. This AI chatbot, a product of OpenAI, was released last year in November and has since been used for a myriad of purposes. One such use it was put to recently was fetching a list of some of the finest female athletes in the US. The data set included their record from high school in the last half a century. However, of the many names missing, one took notice of the list and wasn’t happy with her exclusion from it.
Bianca Knight not only excelled at her high school track and field team, but she also went on to win gold for the USA at the 2012 London Olympics. She believed she deserved a mention in that list.

A tweet by the account MileSplit US went, “We asked ChatGPT to give us the top 10 U.S. high school girls track and field athletes from the last 50 years, and here’s what it gave us”. An innocuous use of the AI tool, it did not sit well with Bianca Knight, who was not featured in the list.
When she found out about it, she shared the list on her Twitter account.“This kinda crazy lol. My records lasting for 15-16 years, respectively, don’t count for anything???”, she said with a sense of disapproval and disappointment.

Her records speak for itself
Knight attended Ridgeland High School in Mississippi, where she won the ‘Female Gatorade Athlete of the Year’ in 2006. Always a track and field fanatic, she became the first Mississippi native to win that prestigious award. Her collegiate record of 22.40 seconds at the 2008 NCAA 200m championship was also impressive. She only grew from there as a runner, having won a World Championship gold and more importantly an Olympic gold in the 4×100 meter relay event in the 2012 London edition.

Whether Knight deserves a spot on the Top 10 list or not is now up for debate between track and field fans. But that her record is stellar and glorious as a track athlete, irrespective of any comparison, is something that cannot be denied.
