Maegan Krifchin took part in the 2016 Olympic Marathon trials and finished 7th with a timing of 2:33:34. Later, in 2020, she suffered a hamstring pop before reaching the 10k mark and had to eventually drop out. Maegan Krifchin does the unthinkable and breaks conventional norms

A heartwarming story out of the U.S. Olympic Marathon trials revealed a 35-year-old Maegan Krifchin racing for her Olympic dream alongside a 7-month-old baby inside her belly. As she looked for her third attempt at an Olympic berth, she not only aimed to fulfill her dream, but representing pregnant women fueled her further. “I want to represent the pregnant women out there that are unsure if they can do something or want to do something—show we can show we’re strong, and just test myself a little bit”, she said in a recent interview.

And she isn’t alone in nurturing the Olympic dream. Beside her is fiance Matt McDonald, who also shares the Olympic dream and also ran at the 2024 Trials. Matt is also a postdoctoral researcher at M. I.T. in the chemical engineering realm and has been part of groundbreaking research recently as well. While he finished 10th at the 2020 Trials, he lined up with the same enthusiasm as that of Maegan at the 2024 Trials. And the internet doffed their hats to her indefatigable spirit.
