Noah Lyles and his compatriots, Christian Coleman and Fred Kerley, have posed their claim on almost every track and field title lately. Lyles and Coleman raged at the 60m indoor event, whereas Jamaican Ackeem Blake remained at the third. Similarly, in the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, Noah Lyles remained at the top and Ackeem followed him subsequently. On the other hand, 2x Olympic champion Yohan Blake is far from his best track and field days. This pained Asafa Powell, the former world champion and Usain Bolt’s sprinting partner.

So the veteran had something to say about such an outcome. However, keeping Noah Lyles and others at the top helm, Asafa showed steady hope for the Jamaicans.

Asafa Powell has good words for the US and hopes for Jamaicans
In a conversation with Citius Mag, Asafa Powell unfurled his take on the current American supremacy in track and field. “The US has always been consistently building athletes to perform on the top level. You know, there’s always an American there,” he claimed. He had a special mention for “Andre De Grasse as well, Christian Coleman, Noah Lyles for sure, Fred Kerley.” But he didn’t disappoint the Jamaicans. He stated, “We with Jamaicans we had an error and you know we’re on a low right now.” With that, the veteran also had the solution.

“We just have to give the athletes time to come into play,” the 41-year-old legend added. He pointed to having patience for blossoming a perfect Jamaican performance in front of American competitors. Powell praised the upcoming Jamaican sprinters like Kishane Thompson and Ackeem Blake, by saying, “We have, the sprinting is looking pretty good”. On that estimate, several Jamaican male athletes may come under his sight to be the flag bearers of the legacy he initiated with Usain Bolt.

Several possibilities with multiple hope
Once Asafa Powell reigned on the track and field with Usain Bolt, the Americans kept their patience iron-built. Despite facing several heartbreaks in front of the duo, Justin Gatlin never dropped his bow down. Rather, the American camp kept their focus undisturbed. Asafa Powell tried to add that part.

Ackeem Blake may come prospering in such an element. This year, the 22-year-old Jamaican thoroughly climbed the 60m indoor ladder by earning respected positions. In the 200m outdoor event as well, he claimed the top podium in Velocity Fest 14. Another name is Kishane Thompson.
Last year in the Xiamen Diamond League, he came runner-up, defeating Yohan Blake in the 100m. However, raising Noah Lyles and his American counterparts’ competition, Yohan has vowed to make his fourth Olympics memorable. Things are pretty much on the fast lane right now.
